  • IGPP Gravity Lab
The IGPP Gravity Group applies high precision metrology - often based upon laser interferometry - to problems in geophysics. Today, in addition to gravity measurements on the sea surface, in the mid-water column, on the seafloor, and on land, we are carrying out research on a new optical fiber infrasound sensor (OFIS), optical fiber strain measurements in boreholes and in the Antarctic ice sheet, and we are beginning the design of several new instruments including an observatory seismometer and an AUV-borne gravity meter.

  • Inframatics.org
The new inframatics organization provides information about the use of sub audible sound waves in the atmosphere for studying natural atmospheric phenomena and monitoring anthropogenic sound sources including clandestine nuclear tests. The main product of this organization's website is a quarterly newsletter that includes articles summarizing ground breaking research in low-frequency atmospheric acoustics.

  • Institute of Geophysics & Planetary Physics
The Cecil H. and Ida M. Green branch of the University of California Systemwide Institute of Geophysics and Planetary Physics (IGPP) is located in La Jolla, and is strongly linked to Scripps Institution of Oceanography (SIO) through joint faculty appointments, research interests, and shared facilities. IGPP research in La Jolla covers many fields, including global seismology, marine seismology and geodesy, geodynamics, high frequency seismology and arrays, geomagnetism, nonlinear dynamics, sea floor electromagnetic sounding, geodesy including satellite geodesy, information technology, geophysical fluid dynamics, seagoing experiments, geophysical inverse methods, acoustical oceanography, marine acoustics, planetary physics, and physical oceanography.
