- Joint Center for Observational Systems Science
UCSD's Scripps Institution of Oceanography and Goddard Space Flight Center at the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) have formed a new collaborative center for observing the earth, oceans and atmosphere. Called the Joint Center for Observation System Science (JCOSS), the teaming arrangement brings together complementary expertise of the two resources in developing, deploying and analyzing sea, land and air-based measurements, and remotely-sensed observations from satellites to better understand the earth systems.

Representing a partnership between the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and SIO, the Joint Institute for Marine Observations emphasizes studies in the fields of Atmospheric & Climate Research, Oceanography, Marine Biology & Ecosystems, and Earth Sciences.
