- Scripps Oceanography News
Scripps Oceanography News
Scripps News offers the latest ocean and earth science news coverage from Scripps Institution of Oceanography at UC San Diego. Scripps News provides up-to-the-minute ocean news and information to the news media and the public about Scripps' global oceanographic research led by the world's best ocean science researchers and students. Contact: Cindy Clark
- Scripps Paleomagnetic Laboratory
Paleomagnetism is the study of the magnetic properties of rocks. Paleomagnetists are therefore united more by a collection of instruments than by any coherent research objective. Contact: Lisa Tauxe

Describes the research and people of the Scripps Photobiology Group. Contact: Nigel Delaney
- Sea Grant College Program
California Sea Grant College Program is the largest of the 30 Sea Grant programs and draws on the talents of scientists and engineers at public and private universities throughout the state. Through the research it sponsors, the Program contributes to the growing body of knowledge about coastal and marine resources and helps solve contemporary marine-related problems. - SIOSED
As part of the Italian government's activities for the safeguarding of Venice and its lagoon, Scripps researchers are conducting experiments to evaluate the ecological consequences of relocating dredged sediments in the lagoon. Contact: Dimitri Deheyn
- Smith Lab
The Smith Lab specializes in deep-sea and antarctic biology, as well as oceanographic instrument development to address important research questions in these regions. This web site is designed to introduce you to the poeple and activities of the lab. Contact: H. Ruhl
- Stramski Laboratory for Ocean Optics Research
Ocean optics research at this laboratory is focused on the development of an understanding of interactions of light with sea water, variability in ocean optical properties, and propagation of light within the ocean. This includes studies of light absorption and scattering by marine particles, field measurements of ocean optical properties and light field characteristics, modeling efforts in the areas of particle optics and radiative transfer in the ocean, as well as applications of optics to satellite remote sensing of the world oceans, dynamics of ocean carbon reservoirs, and monitoring of coastal marine environments.
