Scripps Seaside Forum

This extraordinary, ocean-front conference center facility is located in the heart of Scripps Institution of Oceanography. It will appeal to a broad base of clients that desire a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere, yet provides support through powerful state-of-the-art audio-visual equipment ranging from 3D projection systems, multiple computer connections, surround-sound, and full teleconferencing capabilities. The breathtaking view and multipurpose auditorium also makes the Scripps Seaside Forum a wonderful location for social events such as weddings and galas.

The Scripps Seaside Forum was awarded LEED Certification from the U.S. Green Building Council in August 2009. Rating includes site sustainability, water efficiency, energy and atmosphere, indoor environmental quality, and innovation and design process.

Who is Robert Paine Scripps?

The son of Scripps Oceanography founder E.W. Scripps and nephew of patroness Ellen Browning Scripps, Robert Paine Scripps (1895-1938) was born and spent his life in the San Diego area. As a youth, he frequently visited the Scripps campus and sailed on its research vessels. Scripps Oceanography survived the depression thanks to Mr. Scripps. Not only did he more than double his family's support during this period, but Mr. Scripps also made these gifts strategically, arranging for the state of California to match the family's contributions.
