R/V Melville is strongly requested due to the superior capabilities of its
Seabeam 2100 system. We also request that the cruise be completed
prior to the end of April 2000 or initiated sometime after the
beginning of September 2000 to avoid the winter season in the southern
hemisphere. Consultation with Dan Fornari of WHOI suggests that it would
be most practical to initiate this cruise out of Tahiti directly after
the conclusion of his work on the East Pacific Rise.
